Connect Barcode Scanners

Overview

Scanner setup in DRX is input-first: when scan input lands in DRX fields, checkout and receiving become faster.

Choose hardware or camera capture based on counter setup and staff workflow.

Before you start

  • You can access checkout and inventory features in DRX.
  • Products are saved with barcode or SKU values.
  • You have one of the following inputs:
  • USB scanner
  • Bluetooth scanner
  • Device camera

Connect scanner input

USB scanner (desktop)

  1. Plug in USB scanner.
  2. Open DRX and sign in.
  3. Place cursor in item search or barcode field.
  4. Scan test product and confirm item appears.

Bluetooth scanner (desktop or mobile)

  1. Pair scanner in OS Bluetooth settings as a keyboard device.
  2. Open DRX and focus item input field.
  3. Scan a test item and confirm correct resolution.

Camera scanning (mobile/desktop)

  1. Open DRX on camera-capable device.
  2. Open scan control in supported screen.
  3. Grant camera permission.
  4. Scan a known barcode and confirm match.

Configure for reliability

  • Confirm your scanner submits Enter after each scan.
  • Ensure product barcodes/SKUs are unique in DRX.
  • Keep input language and keyboard layout aligned across devices.

Verify

  • Scan a known item in checkout; quantity should update.
  • Scan during receiving and confirm stock or receiving row updates.
  • Unrecognized scan should prompt search/add flow.

Disconnect or switch

  • Unplug USB scanner to stop hardware input.
  • Remove Bluetooth scanner pairing when switching staff devices.
  • Disable camera permission if you switch back to manual input.
